Leave Graffiti to the Masters

Toronto, 25th October, 2010. Hours before Rob Ford became mayor.
Now I like good graffiti and my past posts are testimony to that
point. This just doesn't make it. Arboreal glory and, well, I don't know
what the hell to make of it.

Rockland Rest Area

The great feature of the Fujifilm X camera series is that the
cameras can shoot colour pictures with a Velvia application.
But if you're savvy, you can shoot pictures as though they are
Kodachrome.

This red brick office building was built around the beginning of the  last century, circa 1899 to 1905. The sign for G.A. Snyder was painted on the building somewhere between 1909 and 1915. The mottled light comes from the silver Bank of Montreal building on Albert Street.

Get a life.

(I love the face on the woman looking at this goofball spectacle. In her perturbed look she strikes me as more spiritual than the two placard carriers. Thank you. ma'am. You are the face of hope.)

Preraphaelite Woman

I lived in Toronto during the 1970s and 1980s at the height of the punk years. I always figured that the punks alluded more to the Victorian period than did the hippies who were more open about their Victorian symbolism. My friend alludes to that waif like aesthetic. If the Preraphaelites flourished today, my friend would be a sure fire star among them. Unfortunately, that would probably involve constant harassment and wooing by Dante Gabriel Rosetti.
