Montreal Street Fashion Festival 2013 Meets the Fujifilm X-Pro1

From the 31st of July to the 3rd of August 2013, I visited the Festival Mode & Design in Montreal for Marcia B of Marcia B Creative. I took my trusty Fujifilm X-Pro1. With the new focusing updates, the camera worked like a charm. The 27th picture is out of focus, but I kept it as a reminder to choose a focus point in the camera when using the Auto Focus. The runway shots were done using the C (constant) mode of AF and it worked as good as any sports camera's focus. Almost everything else was shot in manual focus mode. The new peak focusing function in manual is spectacular and it is as close to shooting with a rangefinder as anything that I have used. I gave Marcia my Canon G11 and one person wanted to be photographed with the Canon as it was not a monstrous pro camera like the XP1. For white balance I used my trusty Expodisc or I used the Kelvin temperatures on the camera. If all else failed, the auto white balance on the XP1 is almost always bang on. This was an opportunity to see how the Fuji 18-55 zoom works. Because of the nature of the X-Pro1, I was hesitant about using the zoom. After all, it has the profile of a rangefinder and physically handles like one. That said, the zoom is fantastic. The lens zooms fast, firm and with stability. I now have the 55-200mm lens and I will be shooting the Montreal Fashion Week shows with it. Thank you, Montreal. This was a wonderful show. And thank you Marcia. As an art director, you're a genius.

The background is tack sharp. I shot AF with the focus point set at the word SPRING (damn!).

Because of this gentleman, I was put on the media list for the
Ray Ban fashion show. Great honour as I love Ray Bans.
Yes, I have Aviators and Wayfarers.
