Woes Down Under
Photograph of Shane Wombat by Lawrence Winder
There are BIG problems in the land of Oz. The machinations
of the right wing government of Australia under Tony Abbott serve as a warning
to other countries considering turning back the clock to a time that never
existed in the first place. With daily gaffes, debilitating financial cuts (see
Australia’s ending the carbon tax), hostility to its Asian neighbours and
restructuring of the education system (cuts and, yes, creationism), the
government lives on borrowed time and an election may happen sooner than
imagined. Still, Australia is stuck with legislators who are ruining a great
nation. It is still stuck with a government controlled by less than ten
ultra-rich buffoons, none of which started on the bottom, but inherited their
wealth and have the gall to say that the poor are lazy. This will be corrected
in the next election, but Australians must still suffer these crooks. And if
you think that I use the word crooks lightly, check this little lesson in
historical phrenology. http://shanewombat.blogspot.ca/2014/07/mugs-and-shots.html
Wake up folks, everywhere. If a politician stutters like he is the common man, more than likely he is an imbecile. Think of Toronto.
I thank Lawrence Winder for his article and photograph of Shane Wombat. Check out Lawrence's photo website http://www.sitedfigures.com.au. (Frankly, I am jealous of his dance photography.)

Michelle Treacy Rules the Night
Michelle Treacy returned to Ottawa after a tour of New York where she sang at the legendary Bitter End. She performed at Zaphod Beeblebrox at 27 York Street in the Byward Market on the 28th of May, 2014. She she knocked us DEAD! And we loved it!
Check out Michelle's website. Listen to her music. Her cabaret style is fantastic both live and recorded. She's great, and I only photograph what I believe in.
